Human Rights House Tbilisi (HRHT) organized the photo contest aiming at raised awareness on women fighting for their rights or rights for others, as well as on causes
advocated by them.

Exhibition of the photos participating in the photo contest and awards ceremony was held on July 16, at the “Human Rights Fair Tbilisi 2019”:

The winners of the photo-contest:

1. Grand prize – awarded with 900 GEL cash, selected by the jury.

In addition to the winning categories for photographers, based on the importance of their activity the jury selected three active and inspiring women – portrayed by the photographers, who are given opportunity to apply for mini-grants in order to advocate causes they fight for in their communities.

The Jury of the photo contest:

Baia Pataraia:
Women Rights Activist and Human Rights Defender, Board chairperson of the Human Rights House Tbilisi (HRHT), executive director of the HRHT member organization – “Sapari” – a leading women’s rights organization in Georgia.

Ksenia Vysotskaya:
France based photographer, who is currently working on commissions for brands and on a personal project about neo-pagan religions in Western Europe.

Craig Jackson:
Communication officer at the Human Rights House Foundation.

Victoria Stephens:
Project manager at IREX Europe, running programs on gender equality and media literacy.

Gulnar Salimova:
Azerbaijani-born documentary photographer and filmmaker. Her projects are mostly focused on social and human rights issues; Her documentary essay film about transgender women have been screened in DocuBaku documentary film festival and in Azerbaijani regions in the framework of CineDOC tour.

The photo contest was held in partnership with IREX Europe, with the financial support of the European Union.
