Trial Monitoring

Ensuring better protection of Human Rights Defenders – workshop on trial monitoring for Armenian and Georgian observers was implemented by Human Rights House Tbilisi (HRHT) in partnership with Educational Human Rights House in Chernihiv (EHRHC), The Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House (BHRH) and Human Rights House Yerevan (HRHY) with the financial support of Human Rights House Foundation within the framework of the “House to House” initiative.

The intended workshop aimed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of fair trial standards and to increase the pool of trained lawyers/journalists and other related professions available to conduct trial observation activities concerning cases of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in Azerbaijan and/or Armenia.

The planned workshop carried out in Georgia, provided practical as well as theoretical guidance for 12 participants representing member and/or partner organizations of HRHT and HRHY. Participants were lawyers and representative of other related profession, who had professional experience and were interested to be observers, or those, who were already undertaking observation activities and would liked to update their knowledge to another level or share their own experience.

The workshop was held in HRHT, on 10-12 th July, 2017.

Summer School

“Summer school on Human Rights 2017 Tbilisi” was implemented by Human Rights House Tbilisi in partnership with The Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House with the financial support of Human Rights House Foundation within the framework of “House to House” initiative.

The project’s purpose was to evaluate the interest in human rights among Georgian society, particularly among youth and to plan further activities in educational direction, increase educational human rights activities by increasing knowledge among Georgian youth on fundamental rights and support further development of Human Rights school concept of HRHT and its educational activities.

15 young students from different fields (law, journalism, social sciences) participated in summer school.

The attendants of the course were encouraged to complete full program and draft essays within one month after the completion of the course. The three successful candidates, were selected by the course consultants and project management, were offered fully covered 5-day study visit to Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius. During study visit the candidates had the opportunity to learn about the activities of HRHB in Vilnius, its member organizations, and attended the activities planned at the specific period of their visit. Candidates’ essays were published on a Human Rights House website.

Human Rights Summer School was held in Tbilisi, Georgia on 27-30 th June, 2017.

ICHR

“International Course of Human Rights for Young Activists from Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine” was implemented by Human Rights House Chernihiv in partnership with Human Rights House Tbilisi and Human Rights Centre “Viasna” with the support of Human Rights House Foundation as a part of “House to House” Initiative.

The project’s purpose was to use modern methods and activities of the Human Rights House Network on educational practices, best practices and tools for protecting human rights and public interests at the national and international levels during the Course. Projects aim was to help participants to draft and finalize their own project/campaign with in the framework of this three-session project.

After the first sessions participants started working on implementation their own activities and drafted 3 projects/campaigns.

First session of the ICHR was held in Educational Human Rights House Chernihiv (Ukraine) and second session was hosted by Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House in Exile in Vilnius.
